ok the way i see it is i've got four options as to what i should do for my trailer. these are based on early thoughts and are just simple ideas at the moment, so bare with me:
1. a story about immortals trying to live a normal life while being hunted by people who hate them.
2. a big screen adaption of the tv show 'dexter', where a killer is terroizing a city by killing high profile people and it falls to dexter to stop him.
3. a trailer for my previous project, shadows in the trees (meh...)
4. some kind of inspirational flick about the olympics in 2012
all of these ideas, save perhaps number 3, have something that i think would be worthy to be put to film. however, even at this early stage i can identify possible problems that are universal to all ideas and specific to certain ones. an example of a universal problem will be the season. anything with footage outside would need to be shot in one night to preserve continuity. also, finding and organising actors would also be challenging. in terms of a specific problem, i turn to idea 2. would copyright be a problem? or in idea 3, will the forest still be usable in this season? as you can see, there are a lot of problems and challenges that will need to be sovled/overcome, no matter what idea i choose.
in terms of genre:
idea 1. would be action/adventure
2. would be thriller
3. would be horror
4. would be family
so as you can see i've got pretty much the entire market to pick from when it comes to forming a fully fledged idea, but more on that later. there you go, those are my first ideas and what genre they would be.

ReplyDeleteStuart it's all very well to be quirky but you do need to start using correct terminology and standard methods of analysing texts. remember at the end of the day I have to give this work a mark!
