what, if any, medai product goes to market with out getting at least a little feedback for its target audience. by the way if i failed to make it clear before hand, my target audience are horror lovers of all ages but with particular focus on teenagers of my own age (17). as such i turned to the age old method of gauging people's opinions, the questionair. i chose ten people at random, allowed them to read my story idea, locations, and cahracter posts, then asked them the following questions:
1. what do you think of the story?
2. what do you think of the setting?
3. what do you think of the characters?
4. does everything fit in with your idea of the horror genre?
5. any suggestions?
the general feeling from the responses of the questionier was that from what they had read the story was interesting and fairly original, which is a good thing. they also liked the idea of a good horror film in a forest as there havent been many goods horror films made recently in a forest. they thought the idea of a fear feeding character was chilling but the other two were bland and lifeless. to this i respectivly reply that, while these characters are important, they are only in it for a short period of time. there simply isnt a chance to develop them more as a character because they only have small roles. as for the horror genre, the group consensus was that it fit squarly in but still had a few aspects that were knew and tested the limits of the boundaries of the genre. suggestions included things like editing the setting by making it darker, and including more gore in the death scenes. these suggestions have, in the whole, been taken aboard and will be used to improve and influence my idea when i come to shooting it.
