construction part 2 - the editing process
once i had all the raw footage i needed i transfered it to a computer with editing software (a mac with imovie HD). the sifting through the numerous clips i had was relatively easy; the majority of them where just re-shots of a set number of clips thanks to an easy shooting process and rigid adherence to my storyboard. i then used this to organize the best of my footage into a timeline that echoed my storyboard as closely as possible. I decided to use a cross fading transition. this was because it produced the effect i was looking for and provided an easy way to go from clip to clip that would not annoy or confuse the audience. i also think it works well due to the fact each clip focus on the same subject just from a closer perspective. in keeping with my codes and conventions i put the title at the end of the teaser and out the intro of 20th century fox at the beginning as a producing institution. i choose fox because they have a long history of making action and adventure films, eg die hard. the only other effect i used with a visual effect placed on top of the establishing shot, with the purpose of adding a mystical feeling to the film.
