genres: why i made my selection

countinuing form the previous post, i will know explain the reasoning behind my decision. but before this, i want to make something clear; while i selected three genres (horror, mystery and thriller) it is horror that i'm most intersted in working with. the other two selections were picked because i believe they work well with horror, and i will use these to further and ifluence my ideas while working within horror.

horror is without a doubt one of the most widely popular generes the world over. horror has been around almost as long as the film industry. generation after generation of audiences have been scared witless by it. there is a shared idea in the filming industry that horror is a relativly easy genre to shoot in. it is often seen as a proving ground for new talent and takes true skill to create something really new and of good quallity. it is for this reason primarily that i choose horror to work in. a genre such as horror is well estabilshed and therefore has many examples of its codes and conventiond from which i can take ideas from. also included in this is the fact that people are familiar with horor; they know what they want and what to expect. this inherant ease of the genre gives me the tools and information i need to create my desired project. lastly, and more personally, i simply really like the horror genre, (second only to the action and adventure genre, but that would be impratical despite my best attempts to prove other wise) and have an idea that i reall want to explore
